Precision Meets Creativity: SwissQprint ACM Production for Eye Food Factory

Bringing Eye Food Factory’s Vision to Life

Eye Food Factory has built a strong reputation for producing bold, contemporary artworks printed on aluminium panels, combining striking visuals with clean, modern presentation. As demand continues to grow, they partnered with Prolab to explore the benefits of our SwissQprint flatbed printing technology for selected works.

This project focused on producing a test batch of artworks, including:

  • Custom-shaped “Fakeboards” (skateboard-style oval panels)
  • A high-impact feature artwork on matte ACM
  • A mix of graphic, photographic, and layered digital compositions

SwissQprint Technology: Elevating Print Quality

We produced all works using our SwissQprint flatbed printer, printing directly onto 3mm white matte ACM (Aluminium Composite Material). This process offers several advantages over standard UV printing:

  • Superior colour depth and contrast, particularly in blacks
  • Consistent matte surface finish with reduced glare
  • Enhanced durability for handling and installation
  • Fingerprint-resistant coating, ideal for gallery environments

The addition of a controlled matte varnish layer further improves surface protection while maintaining a refined, non-reflective finish.

Precision CNC Cutting for Custom Shapes

A key feature of this project was the production of Eye Food Factory’s signature Fakeboards—custom-shaped artworks inspired by skateboard decks.

To achieve a clean, professional result, we:

  • Aligned print artwork precisely to CNC cut paths
  • Ensured no white edges or misalignment on final pieces
  • Produced smooth, chip-free edges using precision CNC routing

This level of accuracy is essential when working with shaped panels, where even minor discrepancies can affect the final presentation.

By working closely with Eye Food Factory, we established a system that allows:

  • Batch production using full-sheet nesting (1220 × 2440mm ACM)
  • Flexible grouping of artworks across different sizes
