Large-Scale Segmented Mural Printing for Ormiston College

Prolab recently completed a striking segmented mural installation for Ormiston College, delivering a high-impact architectural feature using our SwissQ UV flatbed printing system. This project showcases our capability to produce precise, large-format wall graphics with exceptional durability, accuracy, and visual consistency.

Printed in multiple aligned panels and protected with a matte laminate finish, the mural now forms a seamless visual narrative across the display wall—adding character, heritage, and visual depth to the space.

Precision Segmented Mural Printing on the SwissQ UV Flatbed

For this project, we printed the mural as a segmented SAV vinyl installation with 15mm overlaps, ensuring absolute registration between each panel. Using our SwissQ Impala UV flatbed printer, we achieved:

  • Ultra-sharp fine detail
  • Consistent tonal reproduction across all panels
  • Perfect edge alignment between segments
  • Durable, fully cured UV inks for long-term performance

The UV flatbed process allows us to print directly with extreme accuracy, making it ideal for architectural murals, school installations, feature walls, and commercial interiors.

Polymeric Matte Laminate for Long-Term Protection

After printing, we applied a polymeric matte protective laminate to the entire mural set. This serves several key purposes:

  • Reduces glare from overhead lighting
  • Protects against scuffing and cleaning abrasion
  • Extends the life of the mural in high-traffic environments
  • Enhances the visual softness of the artwork

This makes the mural perfectly suited for educational environments, where durability and low maintenance are essential.
