Prolab supports ‘backyard’ artists in an exciting new showcase.

Prolab is an official sponsor of the BACKYARD.ART.STORIES project, launching this September with an exclusive showcase event at Hanworth House in East Brisbane.

Told through the lens of photographer and mixed-media artist Ange Costes and the words of writer Sarah Todman, BACKYARD∙ART∙STORIES shines a light on the extraordinary happening every day in our suburbs.

The project’s goal is to unearth a community of incredible artists who are creating amazing art in home sheds, garages and studies across Queensland.

In its first showcase BACKYARD.ARTS.STORIES will tell the stories of 12 diverse ‘backyard artists’ who are fitting extraordinary creative pursuits in around full-time careers, families and a myriad of other responsibilities.

Along with the launch event on Sunday 11 September, the project will release a collector’s magazine that immortalises each artist’s story in print, and stage a four-week gallery exhibition at the Queensland Multicultural Centre in Kangaroo Point.

Prolab is proud to be a part of BACKYARD.ART.STORIES in its first year, helping local creatives to grow as artists and at the same time grow their audiences.
